Shock was witnessed in Migori County after a newly promoted head teacher was crushed to death on reporting day just hours after he had reported in his new school.
According to reports Mwalimu Ronald Oyombe, aged 48 years, is in deep mourning after a day that was supposed to bring smiles on their faces, brought tears, and pain.
Oyombe is said to have been promoted to be a head teacher and had reported to the new institution the very day he met his death. He is said to have been crushed to death on his motorbike.

According to witnesses, the newly posted head teacher died on the spot after a loaded truck rammed his motorbike at night near the very institution he had been posted to days earlier.
Reports indicate that the accident happened along the Migori-Sori road, just near Aego, Akala Primary School, at around 8pm along the infamous Conner S – a very dangerous stretch according to the residents.
“The truck hit him hard on the head, and broke his right leg, killing him on the spot. According to witnesses, the truck only had one headlight working, and it is possible Mwalimu may have mistook it for a motorbike.”
The accident is said to have happened as the teacher was returning home from Gogo Primary school where he had reported as the new head teacher with the truck carrying traders returning from the nearby Ong’er Market.
“So, one of the first respondents recognized the name ‘Oyombe’ written on the leaving certificate, and called our cousin who is in Nairobi, who shares the same surname, and who in turn called home to inform us of the accident.”

An attempt by the truck driver to flee the scene was met with resistance from locals who blocked the truck with stones leading to an eventual stop and was towed to Macalder Police Station after police arrived.
With him at the time of accident, Mwalimu had his mobile phone, and a small bag which contained his daughter’s school leaving certificate, and small sack of maize. His money that he had withdrawn from an M-Pesa on his way home was stolen at the scene.
