Almost a day after Germany refuted President William Ruto’s claims that he had signed a deal to send over 250,000 kenyan workers to Germany for jobs, the Kenyan government has issued a new update on the same.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, the Kenyan government signed a deal with Germany to send workers but did not agree on the number as earlier announced.
In the statement, the Ministry clarified that there was no limit on the minimum or maximum number of job seekers who could land employment in Germany despite the President mentioning 250,000.

“Unlike traditional quota-based bilateral labour agreements, this new agreement focusses on creating a framework for matching Kenyan talent to German labour needs,” read part of the statement.
Therefore, the number of kenyans that will be required to travel and get jobs abroad was highly dependent on the qualification of the existing opportunities which will depend on the German nation’s needs.
This comes just a day after the German’s Interior Ministry shocked kenyans after they denied reports by President Ruto that Kenya had secured a deal with an exact number (250,000) of jobs for its citizens.
“This information (250,000 jobs) is clearly false. The agreement between Germany and Kenya does not include any numbers or quotas of skilled workers who will have the opportunity to work in Germany. All applicants must fulfill the strict requirements of the German Skilled Immigration Act.”
