The government has issued a new directive for kenyans who wish to register and open an affordable housing account.
According to reports, kenyans who want to access affordable housing programme will use Ksh. 200 activation fee to register for the affordable housing account from Boma Yangu
Reports indicate that the Ksh200 is the minimum payment a Kenyan can make before being allowed to add any house to their wishlist before starting to pay to own the same house.

“The applicant is needed to deposit a minimum of Ksh200 to activate their account and continue saving any amount at their convenience through the different payment options.”
The Ksh. 200 activation fee paid through the eCitizen platform will help kenyans willing to own houses to access and view the units available before adding them to their wishlist or the buying monitor.
“Once you register, one can view all the available projects on Boma Yangu and add their preferred units to their wishlist.”
How to Pay the Ksh200 First Deposit Ammount.
- Log in to your eCitizen platform
- Select the Ministry of Lands, Public Works and Urban Development
- Click the State Department of Housing and Development.
- Select Boma Yangu where you will be given a prompt to register.

To make your first saving, you must complete your profile with your personal details and housing preferences before your details are confirmed before allowed to proceed.
“You must complete your profile by submitting your personal details, and housing preferences. When you register, your details will be verified by the relevant government agencies,”
Once you click on register, the following notice appears on your screen, “Make your first saving. Start your home ownership journey by making the minimum contribution to activate your account.
