Days after Disappearance of hundreds of title deeds were Gazetted, government through the Ministry of Lands has come out to clarify the reports made by the Public Service.
In a statement by the Ministry of Lands and Public Works on Sunday issued a 5-point clarification, the ministry has now distanced themselves from the gazette notice claiming that 367 Title Deeds disappeared.
According to the Ministry, there was unauthorised and unscrupulous access to government press by people yet to be named and stole papers used to print title deeds and not the title deeds as earlier reported.

The Ministry further noted that a corrupt cartel stole the papers in an attempt to print fake titles to sell to unsuspecting innocent kenyans in a bid to steal money through them and therefore there should be no point of concern.
“The documents stolen at the Government printer are the papers used for printing title deeds. We would like to reassure Kenyans that what was stolen at the Government printer are not title deeds but the papers used to print titles.”
Further, they clarified that papers can only become title deeds after due processes are followed and the documents are comprehensively filled with owner’s details, stamped by the registrar and handed over to the Ministry of Lands.
This comes after an uproar was witnessed after reports by a gazette notice emerged that hundreds of title deeds have disappeared without a trace and warned kenyans against dealing with the named title deeds.
