The government through the Ministry of Education has announced government’s Elimu Scholarship programme for KCPE 2023 students who scored 280 marks and above and come from vulnerable backgrounds.
According to the ministry, the funds will facilitate the students to join Secondary school in January, the beneficiaries will also have their school fees covered, transport to and from school, school kits and pocket money for four years in secondary school.
Students from across all the 47 counties are encouraged to apply provided tgey scored above 280 marks in the just released KCPE examination results.

“The Ministry of Education through the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF) and Equity Group Foundation is awarding Secondary School Elimu Scholarships in all 47 counties to needy and vulnerable learners who attained 280 marks and above in the 2023 KCPE exams.”
However, students with disabilities are eligible to apply even if they scored marks below 280. Vulnerable and Marginalised group of learners have also been categorised to have atleast 250 marks to be eligible for the Government’s Elimu Scholarships.
Girls and boys who schooled and did their KCPE exams frok the refugee camps and attained 240 and 250 marks respectively are also encouraged to apply to benefit from the scholarship program.

How To Apply for the Elimu Scholarship programme:
Interested candidates have been advised to make a formal application on or before 5 PM on 28th of December for consideration.
Documents should be submitted either online or at the sub-county education office.

Requirements To Qualify For The Government’s Elimu Scholarship Programme
Requirements for the programme include; being orphans, being from informal settlements, learners whose parents/guardians are living with disabilities, learners whose families have chronic diseases, or learners from extremely poor backgrounds.
However, the Ministry insists that only candidates who sat for their KCPE exams in 2023 are eligible to apply for the government’s elimu Scholarship programme.
