Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has now claimed that he is ready to pay the ultimate political price even if it means losing the Deputy President position if that’s what it takes to win the fight against illicit brew.
Speakin on Sunday during the induction service of Rev. David Chege of PCEA Gateway Parish in Roysambu, Nairobi County, Rigathi Gachagua said that he will not relent in the fight against illicit brew.
The DP has vowed to remain committed to weed out the sale of illicit brew which he says has been eroding the social fabric of many Kenyan societies.

“We are almost losing an entire generation. Nobody will be allowed to sell poison in the name of alcohol to our young people. I was not born in the Deputy President position I just recently got it all those other years I was living a normal life eating and drinking. It is not a must I stay there forever.”
According to the DP, he is fighting cartels that have taken root in the illicit brew business and he will ansure that he does what it takes to salvage the situation especially in Mt. Kenya region.
“If I lose this position because of protesting against the sale of this poison I am ready. There is no pride in leading a drunken nation, people with broken families. We want to lead productive, decent people and we are not fighting anyone we just want to stop the sale of illicit brew.”

This comes after the government took drastic measures to eradicate illicit brews, drugs and substance abuse by setting tough rules and cancelling all bar licencing and listing only 55 local companies that will be allowed to produce and distribute liquor in the country.
