Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has finally broken his silence about the Ruto-Raila talks that led to the drafting of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.
Speaking during the unveiling of the NADCO report at State House, the DP admitted that he was initially sceptical about the Ruto-Raila talks and wondered whether the discussions would see the light of day.
Gachagua was vocal against the formation of the committee through claims that the dialogue talks were Raila’s secret plan to use Kalonzo to popularise himself and not for the sake of kenyans as the Azimio battalion claimed.

“Raila looked for Ruto the other day, and he came without Kalonzo. He only spoke for himself, his kids and his people. He has now sent Kalonzo to the talks where the agenda does not address the issue of Ukambani,” Gachagua said back then.
However, the DP has now welcomed the report that came out of the formation of the National Dialogue Committee and said its time to work through the recommendations for the sake of kenyans.
“I have since been impressed by what has happened and I think this is the way to go, Kenya is bigger than all of us. We now have a plan and a mandate with the people of Kenya that we would like to execute and implement.”
Gachagua claims that the success of the talks was a demonstration that all concerns raised by the Azimio coalition during the anti-government protests were addressed and it’s time to move forward as one people.

“Going forward, after the two houses have done justice to the report, we believe that we will have peace forever and never again shall we settle our political differences in the streets of Nairobi and other towns.”
