Kenyans have reacted after President William Ruto quoted a non existent articles and section of the Kenyan constitution in a bid to defend his housing programme that was declared unconstitutional.
Speaking in Western region where he is on a tour, President William Ruto said that section 25 mandates him to explain housing problem in the country to the people.
“Section 25 of the constitution of Kenya, mandates me to explain if there is a problem and cannot raise money to do Housing. We have a plan on how to raise money for housing.”
Kenyans online have eluded reactions after the Presidential declaration of section 25 claiming that it’s non existent articles and Presidential advisors should do better in briefing the President on existent and non existent sections of the constitution.
Others who claimed that the President confused Section 25 with Article 25 claimed that still, the Article 25 does not talk about housing, rather it talks about fundamental rights and freedoms that cannot be limited such as freedom from torture.
This comes years after President William Ruto, when he was DP quoted a non existent bible verse during a campaign trail that saw people react back then.
Being in his second day in the four day tour of Western Kenya region, President William Ruto has continued to push for his Housing Levy agenda despite the court giving an order to stop the collection and implementation of the housing levy.
According to Ruto, the programme will go on because it is the only way that he will create jobs for the jobless youths in the country and create affordable housing for kenyans.
However, he has continuously received backlash on how structured the programme is, from the contributions aspect to the demolition of houses occupied by people to build new houses to the price that has been set to own the houses.
