Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has confirmed that the form one placement will start as from Monday next week. This he said after releasing the 2023 KCPE examinations.
The CS said that the process will kick off on Monday 27th of November to ensure timely placement of learners. This is to give parents ample time to prepare for to take their kids to various Secondary schools.
Machogu also said that the early placement process will allow the government time for allocation before school Re-Opening. The process will also give government time to plan for capitation to schools after placement.

He also emphasized the need of 100% transition to Secondary schools. This he said will ensure that all learners get their basic right of education irregardless of the marks they attained in KCPE.
For learners who failed to sit for their exams due to one reason or the other but they were registered, the CS said a window of opportunity will be available in January for such cases to ensure the 8-4-4 phase out is smooth.

This phase out will lock out any student or learner who wants to repeat class eight due to bad results. Therefore the transition has to be 100% to secondary school next year.
Machogu said that the form one placement exercise will be completed within two weeks to ensure timely reports. This will be done and completed before christmas as earlier indicated.
In other news, education PS Belio Kipsang confirmed that schoos will open on 8th and resume a normal academic calendar. This is after experiencing Covid-19 that disrupted the normal calendar for the past two years.
