Yesterday, Monday 30th was the first day of the KCPE exams. Various events happened including the attack on security forces that saw two GSU officers dead.: READ: Officers Killed By Explosives In Garissa Heading To Man KCPE. Five pupils across the country gave birth yesterday, according to reports.
Makueni County recorded the first such case as the mother delivered at the Mother And Child Hospital in Wote. However, she did her exams as planned with relevant authorities watching her closely.
At Kitui county, another candidate developed labour pains during the exams and was taken to Mwingi Level IV Hospital. She successfully delivered her baby and continued her exams without complications. Still in Kitui, Prior to Monday, another from Kangondi Pri School gave birth on Sunday.
Additionally, two other pupils from Migori county were admitted in Migori County Referral Hospital’s maternity wing. They successfully delivered their babies and carried on with exams.
Not all cases went smoothly as family and the police are still looking for a candidate who went missing with her 3 month old baby. The candidate was required to sit for her KCPE exams but didn’t show up.
Elsewhere, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation have arrested two suspects on grounds of alleged malpractice. The two, Mercy Wairimu was found to be a KCPE imposter representing another candidate, a move that is illegal. Doreen Gakii was also arrested in similar grounds.
This comes after the Ministry of Education through the CS gave a sterning warning on measures put in place to stop cheating. According to the CS, they will partner with the Ministry of Interior to curb examination offenders. This is to ensure that this year’s exams are as clean as possible.
