Family of the woman killed in Roysambu and her body parts dismembered has finally broken silence about the murder of their kin that has shook the country.
The woman who has since been identified as Rita Waeni Muendo is said to have left Syokimau where she was staying with her aunt to meet a friend. This was the information she provided before leaving.
However, around 5 am on Sunday, her father received a message, delivered from her phone number, demanding a ransom of Ksh. 500,000 within 24 hours for the release of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student.

“With this message, the family reported the matter to the police and DCI, and investigations began. Unfortunately, the family did not get further details about the ransom or an opportunity to explore this route. Additionally, some demands were made when she had already been murdered.”
Detectives are still searching for Ms Muendo’s head and her personal belongings including her clothes and mobile phone. According to the family, she was heading to fourth year at JKUAT before this horrific incident.
The family is still optimistic that justice for the woman killed in Roysambu will be achieved as police are still holding the prime suspect in the murder who was arrested at JKIA trying to flee the country
