The Education Ministry has released important school dates for parents to mark on their calendars as they celebrate Christmas and prepare for the new term.
In a statement released on Christmas day, the Education Ministry wished all kenyans a merry Christmas as they celebrate this important day across the world. The Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu also used the opportunity to remind parents to monitor their children’s behaviour during this critical holiday.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Education, I wish all learners, parents and guardians a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2023. To protect our learners, I wish to urge parents and guardians to exercise their utmost parental responsibility to appropriately guide their children on ways to effectively navigate the negative temptations that come with the festive season.”

“Particularly, parents must caution their children against the dangers of drug and substance abuse that are most prevalent in some parts of the country.”
However, the CS also urged parents to start preparing their children early to make them ready for the 2024 school calendar which the Ministry announced will resume to normal term programmes after Covid-19 disruption that saw mixture of terms.

Important Dates Issued By The Ministry of Education.
The CS said that the opening dates for January will be 8th for the;
- Early Childhood Development Education ECDE
- All Primary schools
- All secondary schools
However, he added that Form One students will report to their new institutions on January 15th, 2024. Parents who have not downloaded their children’s admission letters should do so as soon as possible.

This serves as a reminder to parents that as they celebrate the Christmas festivities, they should remember that they have huge responsibility in January to ensure safe and supported return of their children to schools.
