The bus driver that caused the Nakuru-Eldoret accident that saw fifteen people die on the spot has been released on a Ksh. 1M bond.
The driver John Kiarie was driving the bus that head on collided with a PSV at the Twin Bridge area on Tuesday, January 7, was arrested yesterday and arraigned today before Molo principal Magistrate Daisy Mosse.
According to the prosecution, Kiarie was charged with 15 counts of causing death, 1 count of contravening the use of insurance, 1 charge of reckless driving and one other charge of for carrying 41 uninsured passengers.

However, the driver denied the charges before the court and was released for Ksh. 1M bond pending a case hearing on the 29th of January.
Reports indicate that the driver, Kiarie was driving the bus Classic Kings of Congo and was trying to overlap before hitting a North Ways Shuttle Toyota nissan causing the deaths of fifteen people on the spot
The Principal Magistrate advised that the driver be taken to hospital to undergo treatment as he waits for his day to appear in court for the hearing.
“The accused needs to be taken for treatment, I can see he is visibly injured.”

Before the arrest, a survivor informed the police that the bus was coming from Congo en route to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania was in good condition, and even the driver that caused the Nakuru-Eldoret accident was driving at recommended speed when the unfortunate incident occurred.
However, occupants in the bus escaped with minor injuries while those in the nissan succumbed with a record of fifteeen of them dying on the spot.
“The driver was the first to come out then I followed. I then saw him converging with other bus crew before they walked away.”
