Dramatic scenes are being witnessed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as situation remain tense between striking workers and police officers who have been deployed by the government.
According to reports, police officers are said to have confronted striking workers and in some viral videos, police officers are seen beating some of the workers who were shouting at them.
Reports indicate that the police officers immediately took over screening duties at the airport in a bid to reduce the pile up of passengers who have been stranded since last night after the workers announced their strike.

Due to vigorous confrontations, some striking workers were arrested and COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has demanded the release of arrested workers as he arrived at the airport. He blamed Transport Minister for failure to pick his calls to address the matter.
“I tried calling Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen when this started to educate him to meet the workers and educate them over the Adani deal. Our Ministers are arrogant and don’t take telephones and disregard worker’s calls. We are urging our members to remain firm until we get back to them on this matter. They have our support.”
However, other airports like Moi International Airport, Mombasa and Kisumu International Airport have joined their Jomo Kenyatta International Airport counterparts in rejecting the Adani Group take over paralysing transport in both Kisumu and Mombasa.
