Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dropped the petition to remove judge that he was to present to the Supreme Court today to ask for removal of Lady Justice Esther Maina from office.
According to the Office of the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua has decided to back down from his initial push againt the judiciary to allow the dialogue between Chief Justice Martha Koome and President William Ruto.
“Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua notes the current national discourse on judicial transparency and application of Article 10 of the Constitution of Kenya on the conduct of Judges and other Judicial Officers”

The move will see that the petition match that was set to happen by the DP and his like minded followers to be in halt, which according to DP, is temporary.
“He welcomes the statement by Chief Justice Martha Koome inviting dialogue on the critical issue of accountability of the Judiciary, which President William Ruto has embraced. The Deputy President urges all Kenyans to support this process. In this regard, the Deputy President will not proceed with the matter of the petition, for now.”
This comes after earlier on the week, the DP asked Kenyans to rally behind him against the judiciary as he presents a petition to remove Judge, comments that received backlash from leaders, LSK and kenyans at large.
” It suggests to us that the Deputy President does not understand the public trust that repossesses in his office and the requirements contained in the public offices’ ethics act and the constitution that the actions and utterances of public officers must bring honour and respect to the offices that they hold.” LSK chairman Erick Theuri noted.
