The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) recovered 9.1M only out of 94M cash that was stolen by the Wells Fargo employees.
The employees were transporting company cash when they disappeared with the cash. A manhunt was launched by the DCI for the incident that occurred on 6th November.
Four individuals have so far been arrested in different parts of Nairobi with a total of 9.1M recovered in cash. The men who improvised different ways to move and transport the cash couldn’t get away from the detectives.
The first suspect, Ismael Patrick Gitonga is believed to be the driver and accomplice who ferried Wells Fargo crew. That is Mugetha, Nduiki and the stolen Sh94, 918,750 from the company truck in South C using his Toyota Fielder Reg no. KBM 751W.

Later they traced the motorvehicle in the hands of Michael Matoro Njeru and Samuel Onyango, who were ambushed hands-on-tools modifying the vehicle for concealment. This was in Njiru area, Kayole.
Brief interrogations led police to Thika Road Mall in Roysambu, where the 4th suspect – Martin Nderi Ng’ang’a – was arrested. He led the detectives to his rented house still in Roysambu, where a search therein saw the rocovery of Sh9.1 million in cash.
The four suspects led sleuths to a forest near Gataka Market in Karen, where the cash box used in transporting the stolen money was recovered. Detectives believe that the forest was the meet up point for the suspects, where the loot was shared.
It’s however unclear where the rest of the cash is but as of Sunday 12th of November, the sleuths reported that DCI recovered 9.1M only. The rest of the cash remains missing as the suspects are being held for further interrogations.
