The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has moved to pile charges against several Members of Parliament allied to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as his impeachment plot thickens.
According to reports, the DCI has recommended charges against the Members of Parliament for their alleged involvement in anti-government protests including funding and mobilising demonstrators.
Reports indicate that Embakasi Central MP Benjamin Gathiru and his Embakasi North counterpart James Gakuya Member of Parliament for Embakasi North who are top allies linked to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

According to the DCI officers, the two were implicated following an intelligence report that alleged that the duo organised several meetings at Hotel Boulevard in Nairobi to plan the protests.
Further, the Investigation Agency listed among other charges, soliciting or inciting others to commit offences contrary to section 391 of the Penal Code, conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to section 393 of the Penal Code and money laundering contrary to sections 3, 4 and 7 of the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act.
Among those implicated are Hon. Benjamin Gathiru Mwangi for inciting, Hon. Benjamin Gathiru Mwangi, Hon. James Mwangi Gakuya, Hon. George Theuri, Hon. Martin Deric Ngunjiri Wambugu , Mr. Pius G. Munene for conspiracy to commit a felony.
Additionally, Hon. Benjamin Gathiru Mwangi is also charged against the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act. This comes as the Impeachment motion against the DP gathers momentum.

Reports indicate that the Deputy President is implicated in among other charges, his opposition against the Finance Bill 2024 that led to protests across the country and other accusations and with the charges against his allies might be a thicker plot on his impeachment.
