Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have confimed the arrest of one Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldier in an ambush operation.
According to reports, the KDF soldier was in the company of other civilians when they were rounded up and arresred in an operation that was targeted at drug dens in Mombasa.
Working on intelligence reports in a four day operation, the KDF soldier and several others were arrested in Kengeleni, Magodoroni, and Shanzu areas, Kisumu Ndogo, Sea Breeze within Malindi township, and Timboni area in Watamu drug dens.

In the fight against counterfeit goods, the multi-agency team visited several shops where a search was conducted and counterfeited sportswear recovered,” read the DCI report on the same.
The soldier, whose identity remain anonymous at this point, was with a juvenile when he was arrested in possession of various drugs including heroin, marijuana, and diazepam among others.

DCI conducted the operation alongside other agencies that included law enforcers supported by other government and non-government agencies under Operation Usalama – Coast Region.
In a multi agency operation involving the DCI, police and other agencies, 27 pieces of assorted counterfeited sportswear were recovered while 204 more pieces were found at another raid at China Mall along Digo Road.

“Operation Usalama is the brainchild of The Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation, a regional police body whose membership consists of Chiefs of Police of the 14 countries and the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Co-operation Organisation (SARPCCO) which is principally responsible for the prevention and combating of Cross-border and Transnational Organised Crimes.”
