The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed the arrest of two suspects transporting deadly explosives along Kisii road.
According to reports by the criminal investigation agency, the two suspects were transporting the deadly explosives in a trailer along the Kisii-Oyugis Road at the time of arrest.
DCI also revealed that they were tipped by intelligence reports of the operation that led to the arrest of two men aged 28 and 49 suspected to have given the delivery job to an unknown location.

“Upon search, the officers discovered three cartons packed with 459 pieces of water gel explosives (V6) and two detonating cords, hidden in plain sight,” the DCI said in a statement.
The trailer, explosives and the two suspects are being held in custody as police and investigators continue to dig deeper in a bid to gather enough information about the operation.
“The suspects are being held in lawful custody at Mosocho Police Station, as detectives dig deeper into the case.”
Type Of Explosives Recovered
The watergel explosive recovered by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is a fuel-sensitised explosive mixture consisting of an aqueous ammonium nitrate solution that acts as the oxidizer.
This type of explosives have in most countries completely displaced dynamite and become the most preferred civil blasting agents because they are less toxic and are less hazardous than dynamite to manufacture, transport, store and are relatively safe and easy to use.

It’s however still unclear whether the explosives were on the way to be commercially used in mining areas or it was aimed at attacking innocent kenyans. However, the secrecy of the transportation without alerting the authorities prove an hidden plan.
