Cracks within Azimio have started showing with two of the major coalition leaders in the camp throwing jab at each other publicly.
According to reports, Karua and Kalonzo are reading from two different scripts in the opposition as they try to fight for succession politics to either lead the camp or form their own vehicles ahead of the 2027 general Election.
This comes after Kalonzo, in an interview with a local TV station on Tuesday night, termed ‘Kamwene’ as a terrible political idea that was ‘dead on arrival.

“I don’t want to pass judgment on that issue but have you heard of things like dead on arrival? This thing means individualism. It’s a terrible political philosophy. I would advise my friends to leave it and we stick together in Azimio.”
Kamwene Leadership Forum is a recently unveiled Mount Kenya political group that includes several leaders from Mt kenya including Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, former governors Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia) and Peter Munya (Meru), and university don Gitile Naituli.
According to reports Karua and Kioni formally unveiled the Kamwene in October last year to champion the interests of the vote-rich Mt Kenya region ahead of the general elections in 2027.
However, the sentiments by Kalonzo about the group did not sit well with Martha Karua who has now publicly come out to defend the group against the utterances by Kalonzo Musyoka.

“What about Kamwene scares my brother Kalonzo Musyoka that he must drag it in every conversation he has?”. Karua posed in her X platform.
Various reports indicate that Karua and Kalonzo started their fallout after the National Dialogue Committee report that Kalonzo represented the Azimio coalition in the talks while Kimani Ichung’wah represented the government side.
According to Karua, the committee had not adequately addressed the issue of cost of living that formed the basis of the talks thus openly rejected the report terming it as selfish intensifying cracks within Azimio.

Dead on arrival indeed. Kenya belongs to Kenyans but when you see some tribal elites branding themselves in tribal cocoons, it means they’ve run out of ideas or they’ve been overtaken by the events and so they are trying to fight for relevance. If i may ask who is kioni on national politcs apart from clinging to uhuru and baba, for Karua, she has failed even to grow her party in ‘ her’mt kenya backyard! If the purported party national leaders retreat to such things what does it tell the entire nation, in any case if its the kikuyu affair, kikuyus are all over kenya acha hawa watu waache kutubeba ufala na waangamie na hizo fikra zao potovu….kama ni Atwoli angewambia SHENZI KABISA!!!!
