Confusion rocked Nairobi CBD on Sunday evening after a transformer exploded in the busy Ronald Ngala Street opposite Posta causing a huge inferno.
According to reports and videos circulating online, the incident happened at around 6PM and a huge fire is seen engulfing the ground floor of a three-storey commercial building adjacent to the transformer.
Traders around the busy Nairobi CBD street were forced to flee causing confusion and dramatic scenes as traffic started building up along the street and Immediately the transformer blew and fire incident happened, the county fire brigade was alerted to avoid further spread.

According to preliminary reports, the transformer blew off immediately after heavy rains began pounding the Nairobi area though it was not yet immediately established what caused the blow of the transformer that further affected traffic along the busy street.
It was also not yet clear whether there were casualties from the unfortunate incident by the time of publishing this article as curious residents and owners of businesses along the street watched in disbelief as events unfolded.

Videos seen by NewsProjector show a shoe-selling retailer, among other shops, going up in flames during the inferno with Kenya Power Company expected to conduct investigations to ascertain the safety of the electrical connections in the area.

This comes as Nairobi continues to receive heavy downpour with the Kenya Metrological Department predicting occasional rainfall will be received in Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and the Coast region.
