Chaos was witnessed in Coast Girls High School, Mombasa after police launched teargas into school while dispersing civilians who were demonstrating against the Finance Bill 2024.
Panic engulfed the Coast Girls as learners started running up and down inside the school compound with smoke covering every part of the school, giving learners a hard time.

Reports indicate that some of the students sustained some injuries within the commotion as they hit each other. However the school is yet to issue a statement on the incident.
Kenyans on social media have however faulted the way the police are handling the peaceful demonstrators and condemned them for throwing Teargas canisters to innocent students who were not even part of the demonstrations.
Videos of students running up and down and shouting for help have gone viral and have received condemnation from kenyans.
This comes despite the Mombasa Central Police Station OCS Peter Mugambi declaring that the protests were illegal and denied signing a formal application filed by Mombasa residents to participate in the demonstrations.
“I am declaring that there should be no protests. Let us be peaceful. If you want protests, write a letter to my office,” he said while banning the planned protests in Mombasa.
Today’s demonstrations in Mombasa were planned after the successful demonstrations in Nairobi on Tuesday in a push aimed to force Members of Parliament to reject the Finance Bill 2024 in totality.
