Chaos is currently at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after hundreds of passengers remained stranded at the busiest airport in Africa.
According to reports, the Kenya Aviation Authority (KAA) workers officially commenced their strike over the Adani Group take over that is expected to be signed off by the government.
This comes after the workers gave the government an ultimatum to cancel the deal with the controversial Adani Group and long queues were witnessed as from 9PM last night according to Larry Madowo who was one of the passengers.

“JKIA staff go-slow causes long lines as they plan to go on strike at midnight over Adani takeover deal. They’re declaring a ‘total lockdown’ to oppose the Indian firm, several employees tell me. I’m on one of the last flights out of JKIA at 2359 hours – if it makes it – before the airport workers’ strike begins at midnight.”
Reports indicate that the workers strike officially kicked off at midnight and since then, all planes have been grounded with confusion rocking the airport over mixture of arrivals and departures posing a security threat.
“JKIA is completely overwhelmed, it can’t handle the traffic. It’s chaos. There are now brokers getting paid to get you to the front of the line,” another frustrated passenger told NewsProjector.

Among the major concern of the employees is that the deal, involving JKIA and Indian conglomerate Adani Group, would lead to mass layoffs of local kenyan employees in favor of foreigners.
However, the government has turned a deaf ear to the concerns by workers and kenyans at large, insisting that the Adani Group deal is for the best interest of kenyans
