Calls for Murkomen’s ouster have intensified after the third power failure in a span of three months at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary has failed to prevent Blackout in the International Airport after the generators failed three times to offer backup incase of a power failure.
The first outage was on August 25, while the second was on November 11 bringing this as the third time that the Kenya Airports Authority has failed to offer alternatives.

However, in August, Murkomen released a statement through his platforms offering an apology to kenyans and adding that the blackout experienced in JKIA will never be experienced again.
“I am really sorry for what has happened. There is no excuse worth reporting and there is no reason why our airport is in darkness.”
This was followed by a meeting with the Kenya Airports Authority that saw the firing of the Managing Director, Alex Gitari. General Manager Project and Engineering Services Fred Odawo’s contract was also terminated.
Months later, the same problems keep happening. In the latest occurrence that has intensified calls for Murkomen’s ouster, the CS has said that only Terminal 1A and 1E were affected. The rest of the airport, including the JKIA Tower and Runway, remained fully operational.
Murkomen has now turned to the National Police Service to investigate what he termed as “possible acts of sabotage and coverup”
“Considering the frequency of the power disruption, and taking into account the fact that JKIA is a facility of strategic national importance, we are making a formal request to the National Police Service to investigate possible acts of sabotage and coverup.”
However, most kenyans took to social media calling for his ouster. According to netizens, same mistakes three times is an act of incompetence and shouldn’t be assumed as a mistake.
