The Germany Opportunity Card also known as the Chancenkarte is finally approved and application will start soon. Calculating your opportunity card points should be your self assessment before applying.
The Chancenkarte uses the points system to shortlist applicants for the opportunity to work in Germany. The points are calculated according to qualification, Language and your previous relationship with Germany.
Basically, you’ll be required to have Sufficient German language skills at level A1 or English language skills at level B2. This will be accompanied by at least two years of vocational training according to the rules of the country of origin.
If you have permission to practise a regulated profession with skills in that sector eg Teachers, nurses and engineers will automatically get four points out of six.
Professional experience is also an added advantage as it earns you three points. This means that if you’ve been practicing in the last seven years in the learned profession as well as a preceding two years of professional training, you qualify for three points. Language can earn you the rest of the points.
As a Youth under 35 years, you can earn two points in the age bracket. Applicants under the age of 35 will automatically be awarded two points to start with as they look for the rest in language and academic qualifications.
People who have previously stayed in Germany will be awarded a point. People who have visited Germany as tourists do not qualify in this category. You must have stayed for atleast 6 months.
Good knowledge of English categorised as C1, reasonable knowledge of German language, categorised as A2 will give you one point. Those applying with their spouses will also be awarded one point. That sums up the Calculating the opportunity card points. You can also check here
Application of the Opportunity Card will begin from 01 June 2024 at the local Foreigners’ Registration Office or the relevant German embassies. This is a chance to ensure you get better opportunities abroad for your skills.
