On Monday, a Bolt affiliated driver who was captured on tape driving while exposing his manhood has been suspended. The driver who was carrying female passengers is seen in the video with his manhood out. This sight forced the female passengers to alight even before reaching their destination.
The Digital Taxi app has come out to release a statement about the same. In a statement, the app says that the driver will cease to offer any services on the platform as investigations continue.
“We are actively engaging with the affected rider and once again take this opportunity to express our sincere concern and empathy over this unfortunate incident. We remain committed to promptly addressing and continuously supporting our valued clients during such difficult moments. At Bolt, the safety of our drivers and passengers remains our highest priority. We remain committed to vigilance and swift response in handling such incidents.”
The incident took social media in shock as many condemned the act terming it as reckless and calling Bolt to take action.
According to Bolt, the affected ladies have been contacted with the company seeking to inform them of the progress of the matter, reassure them of their safety and offer their apologies.
Kenyans took to social media to ask for actions to be taken against the driver. Others claimed that the way he was comfortable with being indecent means it’s not the first time.
We hope such occurrences don’t repeat in any society. Taxis should be safe and accommodating to ensure trust. Companies should toughen their rules and take necessary actions to stop such behaviours.
