A bodyguard that was attached to a popular Embakasi Member of Parliament (MP) has been confirmed dead in his residence in Embakasi, Nairobi.
According to reports, Constable Austin Owiti Oyuech Shariff, an Administration Police officer and bodyguard that was attached to Embakasi West Member of Parliament (MP) Mark Mwenje was confirmed dead on Thursday.
Reports indicate that Constable Shariff was found dead after he allegedly shot himself in the head on Thursday morning in his home in Embakasi, Nairobi. Police say that they are yet to establish the motive behind the action.

Shariff who was 43 years at the time of his death is a former bodyguard to many government officials. However, those close to him say that the bodyguard had not shown any sign of distress prior to his death on Thursday.
Responding to the incident, Mark Mwenje, Embakasi East MP said that he is sad that the incident happened and he is counting on the police to conduct their investigations into the incident.
Reports further indicate that Shariff was on leave and spent the better part of Wednesday with his friends in the neighbourhood where they had drinks before going home at night. He woke up as usual before he reportedly grabbed his gun and shot himself.

Upon discovery of the body, police picked up his remains and took him at the morgue pending an autopsy and other procedures. He will be laid to rest in Seme, Kisumu County, on Friday, September 20, according to his Muslim religion.
