The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have issued a back to school warning over the rise of counterfeit materials as schools open for first term.
The back to school warning comes after a successful operation that saw an arrest of individuals who were running a printing workshop in basement buildings in Nairobi.
According to DCI, the intelligence-led operation, a team of detectives drawn from DCI Headquarters and DCI Central, Nairobi, arrested two individuals namely Christopher Muthini Musyoki and Eugine Asunda at Soko plus building, store number A36 along Ronald Ngara street while printing Four Figure Mathematical Tables Covers.

They also traced the owner of the store and the printing machine namely Jeremiah Esikumo Opati who disclosed that he had been contracted by Muyela Aluta Samuel who was also traced and arrested.
It was also established that Muyela runs a printing store number 9 situated at Rahu house basement along Mfangano Street where upon search, a printing machine and Four Figure Mathematical Table templates were recovered.
Muleya also led the detectives to his other shop located at Manshram Mansion building room 28 along the same street where over one thousand copies of Four Figure Mathematical Tables without covers were recovered.
The suspects have been arrested and the exhibits nabbed pending processing and arraignment in court on Monday.

The detectives have warned kenyans of the increasing number of counterfeit production of books across the country as the back to school preparations are on high gear, advising parents to buy books from a certified and trusted store.
They have also asked the members of the public to provide information of similar suspected counterfeit production to ensure that the habit is held off for good.
