Former Prime minister Raila Odinga has urged his supporters to calm down as the Africa Union Chairmanship post wont prevent him from vying in 2027.
According to Raila, winning the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position is a political death sentence as his Kenyan Presidential Ambitions are still on.
Speaking during the opening of the Marani Vegetable Aggregation and Marketing Centre in Kisii, Raila said that he can decide to drop his bid for the AUC seat and concentrate on a sixth stab for the presidency and it’s entirely up to him to decide.

This comes a day after Raila assured kenyans that he will not retire from Kenyan politics and if needed, he will travel from Ethiopia to Kenya within hours.
“If Kenyans will need me for any other job I’ll be available, I will take a break from the AU and come. I will come back to work for Kenyans because what we had said we would do I must deliver.”
However, the Azimio camp is filled with uncertainty with most of the principles already arguing on who’s supposed to take over the mantle from the Former Prime Minister.
Revealing his preferred candidate, Ida Odinga said that the opposition leader will prefer John Mbadi as his political successor because of his liking of the politician.
However, Rarienda MP Otiende Amollo has rubbished the claims of naming the political succession as he stated that a leader will not be named but rather, everyone has a chance to step up and try to fill Raila Odinga’s shoes.

Raila has also stated that he will be willing to commute daily to Addis Ababa (AU headquarters) giving him enough time to participate in local politics and therefore should not be counted out of vying in 2027.
