Businesswoman Anne Njeri has today failed to appear before the National Assembly Energy Committee over the 17B fuel scandal for questioning. The Anne Njeri oil scam deepens
The woman who has been on the news for the past few weeks has through her lawyer Cliff Ombeta cited health problems as the reason for her failure to appear before the committee.
The lawyer failed to comment further on the said illness. He just said that his client was unwell and could not reveal the stae of the illness.
“We have declined to appear before the Committee. The official position is that she is unwell. I will not reveal the details of her illness.”
However, the lawyer said that they (him and his client) will not honor any Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) summons. Any summon from DCI should be official and have a reason for the summon as well as the purpose.
” Also, we will not honour the summons by the DCI. They cannot be calling us through other lawyers and telling us to go. They need to get a formal summon and make it clear. You know the last time she appeared, she mysteriously disappeared.”
The businesswoman has been in the center of a 17B Oil saga that has devided both the government and the opposition. Each pointing fingers at the other.
Last week, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah through a brief explanation tried to point two powerful CSs to Anne Njeri and the Oil saga. READ: Okiya Omtatah Exposes Corruption, Faces Behind 17B Oil Scam
