Directorate of Criminal Investigation raided a house on Saturday in Nairobi’s high end estate, Runda. Here they arrested three suspects on allegations og gold scam. The three suspects were arrested in amomesa Vale. Here’s part of the DCI statement:
“Fauzia Wanjiru alias Issa, Shallo Fatma alias Tett and Jackson Ochieng were arrested at Momesa Vale house number 199 following an intelligence-led operation”
Criminal Investigations linked the three suspects to Trans-Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang in a statement they released on Saturday.
However, Chesang has come out to defend himself against the allegations against him. Saying he doesn’t even know those arrested.
“I am denying the allegations which comes as a shock to me considering I have no knowledge of who the arrested persons are”
The Senator termed his recent links as political witch hunt with people out to tarnish his name. He added that he is a noble leader whose progress in Trans-Nzoia don’t sit well with his political enemies.
Speaking on X, Chesang accused media stations of spreading unverified claims with links to gold scam.
“I am deeply disappointed to see stations spreading unverified claims linking me to a gold scam. As a public figure, I understand the importance of transparency and accountability. It’s essential that such serious allegations are thoroughly verified before being reported. I am not in custody. These accusations are false. I urge you to uphold responsible journalism and fact-check before sharing such damaging information.”
Responding to DCI, Chesang said claims were baseless and can inflict damage to his name and reputation. Adding that he will take necessary legal action in an attempt to clear his name.
A complaint by one Ralph Manyaka, a South African national suspected foul play led to arrests.
Manyaka had flown to Kenya due to “issues on his consignment” and was to pay Ksh. 5.3 Million for his goods to be released.
