Most people who have done business in campus have it easier navigating through after campus. This is because of the continuation of the hustle or venturing into new hustles.
After campus, the main thing is to survive. You don’t expect to get out of campus and get rich. This is the survival phase. As long as you can afford a meal and a roof over your head, you’re good. That shouldn’t put you in your comfort zone though.
Don’t be choosy. After you’re done with your studies, don’t choose what to do, the salary to get or the place to work. You have no experience and you’re still building your CV. Take whatever is available as long as its reasonable.
Lower your expectations. Out here can be frustrating. Most of the times, things won’t go your way. Things won’t work out the way you want them. With low expectations, you will reduce disappointments. This helps you to stay focused and never give up.
Use what you have to get what you don’t have. This entails building your connections. Treat anyone as a potential stepping stone. If you find a better opportunity, don’t trash where you currently work. Always leave in peace.
Most people tend to forget where they’ve come from. There is always better opportunities. Once you get better, even if your previous employer was harsh on you, make peace. You have a whole life in front of you and you may meet elsewhere. Make ammends.
Going back home can be either a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. It can make you lazy because you’ll be comfortable paying no bills or can give you time to restrategize as you plan your next move.
It also depends on the career you pursued. Most careers have opportunities in towns. Going back home means going far from opportunities thus narrowing your chances. Hanging around towns with friends or close family member will expose you to opportunities as compared to going back home.
Always be on the move. Be on the lookout. There is always a better opportunity. Also be tactical when going for better. Consider working environment, salary, expenses and allowances. Don’t let salary excite you and put your mental health at risk.
Different people have different ways of coping up with life after campus. You know your family background, you know what suits you best. Mistakes are normal, how you bounce back after a mistake is what determines how you move forward. But in everything you do, keep moving.
