3500 Kenyans that had previously applied for job opportunities abroad (Kuwait) have been reported to have failed basic skills tests. This was a requirement for them to be hired for the skilled jobs that are available in Kuwait.
This comes after President William Ruto negotiated for a domestic workers export that included skilled workers. Over 5000 kenyans applied for the job opportunities abroad and only 1500 made the cut.
The 1500 kenyans who successfully passed the skill tests will travel to Kuwait on December for allocation of jobs. This translates to only 30% of the total applicants were aware of the positions they were applying for. Thus they passed the skill tests.
Kenya signed a deal with Kuwait to export more workers to the middle eastern country. This will see a significant improve in the number of domestic workers that will travel to the country in 2024.
